MediU ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information MediU collects, how it is used, and how it is shared when you use the MediU iOS app.
The short version: MediU stores your medication schedules, logs, and optionally a voice reminder recorded by your partner. We never sell your data or show ads. Your data is only visible to you and the one partner you choose to connect with.
MediU does not use traditional accounts or require sign-in. On first launch, a random unique identifier (UUID) is generated for your device and stored locally using iOS secure storage. This identifier is used to associate your medications, logs, and partner connection with your device. It is not tied to your name, email, Apple ID, or any other personal identifier.
During onboarding, you provide a display name. This name is visible to your connected partner so they know whose medications they are monitoring.
MediU stores medication names you enter. While this is health-adjacent information, MediU is not a medical device and is not subject to HIPAA. We treat this data with the same care and confidentiality as any sensitive personal data.
If you are connected as an observer (a partner who monitors someone else's medications), you may optionally record a short voice reminder. This audio file is uploaded to our secure storage and played on your partner's device when they miss a dose. The voice memo is stored under your relationship identifier and is not indexed or processed in any way.
MediU supports a 1:1 partner pairing. When you connect with a partner using an invite code, we store your shared relationship record — which links your two device identifiers. Through this relationship:
If you grant notification permission, we store your device's push notification token to send you missed-dose alerts and to notify your partner when you log a dose. You can revoke this permission at any time in iOS Settings.
When your partner sends an emoji reaction to one of your logged doses, that reaction (emoji and sender device ID) is stored and visible to both parties.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, analytics, or any purpose beyond providing the core functionality of MediU.
Your data is stored using Supabase, a secure cloud database and file storage platform. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Voice memos are stored in a private storage bucket and served via secure public URLs scoped to your relationship.
Your device identifier is stored locally on your device using iOS Keychain (via expo-secure-store), which is encrypted and inaccessible to other apps.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account. This permanently deletes all your medications, dose schedules, medication logs, reactions, and partner connections. Your device record is retained with a deletion timestamp for compliance purposes — your name is anonymized and no medication or personal data remains attached to it. A fresh install generates a new device identifier and a clean account.
You can unlink your partner at any time from Settings → Partner → Unlink. This removes the shared relationship. Your partner will no longer be able to see your medications or logs.
Voice memos are tied to your partner relationship. Unlinking your partner removes the associated voice memo from storage.
You can revoke MediU's notification permission at any time in iOS Settings. This stops future notifications but does not affect your stored data.

MediU may be used by younger users under parental supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child under 13 has used MediU without consent, please contact us and we will delete the associated data promptly.
MediU is a personal reminder and logging tool. It is not a medical device, does not provide medical advice, and is not a substitute for guidance from a licensed healthcare provider. Always follow your healthcare provider's instructions regarding your medications.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
